Since 2003, the Tien Phuoc Orphanage has been a safe and happy
haven for orphaned and disadvantaged children in Quang Nam,
Vietnam. The center has been in operation thanks to the generosity
of long time supporter Steve Reynolds of New York.
Under the management and care of East Meets West staff, children
at the center have thrived in health and education. At the
end of the 2003-2004 school year, all 32 children successfully
passed their final exams to move up to the next grade level
in school and 90% of these students were classified as “above
average in scholastic performance.” Children currently
enrolled in secondary and high school levels are provided
tutoring in several different subject areas to help them excel
in their studies.
In addition, the Orphanage recently launched agricultural
activities to provide the children with fresher vegetables
as well as teach them the basic methods of farming. EMW has
strengthened relations with the local government, which is
now providing more assistance and support for the operation
of the center.
