Progress Report
First Quarter 2007
An orientation workshop was organized during March 2007, bringing together nearly 20 local participants from the Da Nang Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Centre (DNORC)
and various sectors in the program province, districts and communes. At the workshop, local partners were oriented towards the program approach, interventions and strategies. They also provided recommendations and suggestions on implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the program activities and expressed their commitment into implementing program activities.
A General Agreement has been signed between East Meets West Foundation and Department of Foreign Affairs of Quang Ngai (DOFA). A program office has officially been set up with an official Operation Permit by the DOFA.
A thorough medical screening of all 7,761 people with disabilities in the 2 program districts is being conducted, which will list PWDs in categories of assistances. The program will base on this result to meet the needs of the community, upon selection criteria: children, women, poor and disadvantaged people with disabilities.
Preparatory activities for construction works of a new medical clinic are being promptly undertaken so that the construction may be started as soon as possible.
