Dental Program
Celebrates Milestone with Treatment of 25,000th Patient
POSTED: MARCH 2005
An important milestone was reached on September 9, 2004 when
the East Meets West Dental Program provided free dental care
to the 25,000th child.
The achievement represents 10 long years of hard work and
dedication since the clinic opened in 1996. The 25,000th patient
was Nguyen Than Thuy, a 15-year old girl who resides at EMW’s
Village of Hope.
To honor Thuy and the dental staff, East Meets
West hosted a 25,000th patient celebration on February 25,
2005. In attendance were EMW's
Board of Directors and staff, as well as children and directors
from the various children’s centers
served by the Dental Clinic.
The Dental Program has steadily evolved over the past 10 years.
The clinical staff has grown to seven
members who now provide care to over 5,000 children per year.
East Meets West has conducted over 35 dental outreach trips
and worked with over 150 international volunteers who offer
the most modern dental services to the children of central
Vietnam.
Congratulations to everyone
who contributed hard work and kindness over the past 10 years
in making the Dental Program such a great success.
