edition of the East Meets West Foundation's E-News!
This newsletter is designed
to keep you updated on what is happening at EMW, offer opportunities
to get involved, bring you information about our upcoming
events, publications, trips to Vietnam and of course pass
along news about the projects and programs you so generously
support. There is a lot happening--new offices in Vietnam,
programs expanding to help more children and needy families,
and projects either breaking ground or nearing completion.

 Celebrate
EMW's Second Annual
Tet Trung Thu in New York City!
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Moon
with East Meets West! One of Vietnam's most popular holidays,
Tet Trung Thu is a delightful celebration traditionally
centered around the harvest of the full moon. This year's
event will be held on October 5 at the
Viet
Cafe & Gallery in the Tribeca neighborhood of
New York City. Come enjoy an evening of Vietnamese culture,
food and entertainment while you mingle with EMW supporters

Dental Program Will Soon Be Mobile!
East Meets West recently purchased
a recreational trailer that will soon be outfitted to
become our Mobile Dental Outreach Clinic.
Thanks to the generosity of Barbara and Gil Kemp, who
donated the funds for this project and Mel Potter, who
volunteered to outfit the trailer, the Mobile Clinic will
treat patients in children's centers and primary schools
with modern humanitarian dental services.

Digs for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh Staff
Staff at EMW's Ho Chi Minh office
(left) are now working in a bigger, brighter, better
office space— a necessary move to accommodate the
growing staff in that office... Travel way up north and
you'll find another new EMW office, this one located in
Hanoi, which just opened to focus on projects in that
region supported by USAID and other funding agencies.

Meets West's Operation Healthy Heart program
has been expanded into a national program in Vietnam with
the simple goal to reach more children and save more lives.
Through the OHH program, EMW staff identify children who
need heart surgery and provide financial and medical assistance.
