Dr. Charles F. Craft
Dental Director
After graduating from the University of Nebraska in 1980 with a doctor of dental surgery degree, Dr. Charles "Fritz" Craft moved to Alaska where he served as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service for 20 years. He provided care to the Aleut, Eskimo and Indian people living in the remote regions of the Bering Sea Coast, the Artic Circle and down in the Aleutain Islands. He performed over 250 field missions to isolated villages to provide dental services to native Americans who had little access to direct dental care.In 1985, Dr. Craft began volunteering with several overseas organizations and has since provided humanitarian dentistry in the countries of Jamaica, Russia, Mongolia, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, East Timor, Samoa, Madagascar and the Philippine Islands. He and EMW Country Director Mark Conroy started the East Meets West Dental Program in central Vietnam in 1995.
Dr. Craft currently lives in Cambodia where he works for the International SOS Medical Company and also serves as the Chief Dentist for the US Embassy in Phnom Penh. Dr. Craft is married to Sokunthea and they have two daughters, Crystal and Jessica.
Tran Thi Minh Huong
National Program Coordinator
Minh Huong started working for EMW Dental Program in June 2005. Before joining EMW, she worked for different projects working in community development and poverty elimination in central Vietnam. Her ambition is to dedicate her abilities and experience to helping disadvantaged people in her country, especially underserved children in orphanages and in rural poor areas. Minh Huong enjoys spending her free time with her family, including her two children and loves cooking, teaching English for children, listening to music and dancing.
Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Hoa
Chief Dentist
Before joining EMW, Dr. Hoa had heard from a former EMW dentist about the Dental Program's free humanitarian dental services for thousands of disadvantaged children in Central area of Vietnam. Being as a dentist with many years in dentistry practise at Da Nang Dental Center with a high awareness of the danger caused by oral disease, she wanted to activiely contribute to this meaningful humanitarian dental project to bring needy dental services to unfortunate children. Dr. Hoa joined EMW in September 2003. She says she was particularly impressed with the high quality of care at the clinic, including a perfect infection control section such as she had never seen before in Vietnam. In her spare time, she enjoys playing with my children at home and shopping.
Hoang Thi Thu Ha
Staff Dentist
Dr. Ha came to the Dental Program after hearing about the program's humanitarian work from one of her friends. She joined EMW in March 2005 after graduating from the University of Health Sciences. She says the Dental Clinic's working environment in Da Nang was ideal,with the modern equipment that she rarely had a chance to see before, and with the advantage of being able to work with so many of the program's international volunteers. In her spare time, Ha enjoys shopping, meeting friends and traveling back to her hometown.
Mai Trieu An
Staff Dentist
Dr.
An joined EMW as a Staff Dentist in 2009. He recently graduated from
the Hue Health & Science University. An says he considers the EMW
Dental Program to be a perfect working environment for "a young dentist
like me because it will give me an excellent opportunity to be trained
and challenged, while giving the best quality of dental services to
improve the poor health of Vietnamese children."
Nguyen Thi Thu Hien
Dental Nurse
Hien joined the EMW Dental Program in June 2004. She enjoys contributing to humanitarian activity in a sustainable working environment. She says her strongest impression of the program is the standard of infection control that she had never seen before. In her spare time, Hien enjoys playing with her baby, shopping, listening to music and going to the cinema.

Pham Minh Tri
Dental Nurse
Tri joined the EMW Dental Program in 2005 right after graduating from dental college. He has especially enjoyed the working conditions of the Dental Clinic and meeting foreign dental volunteers. He says he recognizes that what he does and the program delivers is extremely essential for the disadvantaged children they work with. In his spare time, Tri enjoy playing with his baby, reading, watching TV and listening to music.
Do Thi Hong Thuy
Dental Nurse
Thuy grew up in impoverished Quang Ngai Province, and says she can easily understand the conditions of people who are short of food, clothes, money and basic health care. She wanted to do humanitarian work since she was a little girl, a dream fulfilled when she joined the EMW Dental Program in March 2006. She assists dentists in giving treatment to handicapped and disadvantaged children. In her spare time, she enjoys watching football, playing sports, reading, listening to music and meeting friends.

Nguyen Thi My Huong
Infection Controller
Huong began working with the EMW Dental Program in 2006. She works with the program as an infection controller, delivering care to disabled and disadvantaged children in rural areas through outreach trips and at the EMW Dental Clinic in Da Nang. In her free time, Huong enjoys reading, watching TV, listening to music and dancing.

Truong Thi Thuy
Infection Controller
Thuy has been an Infection Controller with the EMW Dental Program since November 2006. She has a long history with East Meets West since she was treated for life-threatening heart disease at the age of fourteen through EMW's Operation Healthy Heart program. She says "EMW saved my life, took care of me and now they have given me a good job." In her free time, Thuy enjoys playing with her baby, watching TV, shopping and traveling.
Tran Thi Tra My
Office Assistant
Tra My has been with the Dental Program since January 2007. She was
very interested in the working environment of the EMW Dental Program - the
teamwork exhibited by the staff, and the work they do with
international volunteers. Tra My's hobbies include watching TV,
reading, listening to music, shopping and especially traveling.
